Overview
Syncthing synchronizes files between devices and provides a browser-based interface for its background application. Changes and deletions can propagate, so synchronization must not be confused with an independent backup. Device availability and folder permissions remain your responsibility.
What it is for
- Synchronize chosen folders across devices.
- Keep file copies aligned without a central storage subscription.
What to check first
- Test conflicts, deletion behavior and versioning with dummy data.
- Use a separate backup for files you cannot afford to lose.
A useful first test
Synchronize a temporary folder between two devices, edit a file on each side and test a deletion before adding real files.
Cost and hosting
Free application; hardware, connectivity and backup storage may cost extra.
